An Elyria police officer was attacked Sunday morning at the Elyria Police Station, and it was all caught on tape! Officer William Witt was booking Anthony Thomas, 29, who was arrested for domestic violence and a warrant for drunk driving and driving under suspension when the attack occurred. While uncuffed at the station, Thomas lunged over the booking table and began punching Officer Witt. Officer Witt fought back, but felt Thomas reaching for his gun. Too bad for Thomas, Officer Witt was following proper procedure and had placed his gun in a locker before taking Thomas into the booking room. Officer Witt was able to overpower Thomas, police officers raced over to help.
